Free textbooks, bags for 3 lakh corporation school students in Delhi
NEW DELHI: Around three lakh students from corporation schools will get free text books each for the subjects of Hindi, English, Math, Social Science, Science and Drawing and school bags soon. South Corporation mayor Shyam Sharma on Thursday approved an amount of Rs 3.80 crore for the purpose for the financial year 2016-17. The three lakh students study in primary classes of 587 corporations schools in South Corporation areas.
A proposal for it was put up by the education department of the corporation. "An amount of Rs. 2.53 crore will be required for the text books while around 93 thousand school bags in big and small sizes will be procured for the distribution to the children studying in class I, II and II. An amount of Rs. 1.26 crore has been sanctioned for the distribution of school bags for free," said an education department official.
The department will procure 53 thousand school bags of big size and 43 thousand of small size. "The text books and school bags will be made available to the students well in time so that their education does not suffer," said Sharma.
